October 2, 2025 – Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Statement on Mortar Strikes at Aid Distribution Site:

This week, four mortar strike attacks struck in and around a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution site, SDS 3 Khan Younis. No local aid workers or civilians were harmed, and the majority of our distribution went on as planned, successfully providing meals to thousands of Gazans. Regretfully, our women’s distribution was cancelled on October 1st to protect women and children from potential further threats.

The first strike occurred on September 28 approximately 150 meters outside of SDS 3 during a women’s distribution. The second, third, and fourth strikes occurred yesterday on October 1st. The initial mortar attack hit the road just outside of our gates in a deliberate attempt to disrupt operations. The second mortar landed nearly a kilometer away, aimed at frightening civilians and preventing them from accessing aid. The third and final strike once again targeted the road behind our distribution site, underscoring the clear intent to obstruct life-saving relief.

The new program, which will scale over the coming weeks, launched on Sunday, GHF has continued to monitor for and warn of credible threats from Hamas and other hostile groups, including plots against our American staff, Palestinian aid workers, and the civilians who depend on our sites for food. Our evidence indicates that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) took credit for this attack in the Morag Axis.

This latest attack reaffirms that even in the face of violence, GHF’s commitment does not waver. Our mission remains clear: to feed the people of Gaza directly and at scale. Efforts to obstruct this life-saving work only worsens the humanitarian crisis. We will continue to stand with the people of Gaza and do everything possible to deliver the urgent aid they desperately need.
