STATEMENTS FROM GHF INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOHN ACREE
June 20, 2025
“GHF had smooth operations today at all of our distribution sites thanks to our American and local Palestinian team members who continue to amaze me with their dedication and hard work given the volatile environment we are operating in.”
“We are still looking to make improvements to our operations and we continue to request access in Northern Gaza to open up additional sites.”
“Additional food aid is desperately needed to deliver to Gaza and we are ready to work with other humanitarian groups to help deliver aid securely to those who need it most. We are ready and prepared to expand our operations.”
UPDATES AND CORRECTIONS
INACCURATE NEWS REPORTING: Our GHF news monitoring continues to reveal inaccurate news coverage by international media outlets linking GHF sites to violent incidents that did not occur near our sites but occurred at United Nations’ (UN) convoy sites.
In the latest report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN admits Tuesday’s deadly attack was linked to their aid distribution not GHF: “The casualties were attempting to collect our (UN) rations in Khan Younis,” MSF added. According to MoH (Ministry of Health in Gaza), on 17 June, “59 people were killed and over 200 were injured among people trying to access food supplies…”
Reuters and Washington Post have still refused to update their articles to clarify this was a UN convoy and distribution effort.
In the same OCHA report, the UN noted that their distribution has been plagued by violence. “Civilians in desperate need of the food we’re able to bring in have not been spared; some have been shot by Israeli forces, and others crushed by trucks or stabbed while trying to retrieve food.” (OCHA Humanitarian Situation Update, 6/18/25)
BOTTOM LINE: The UN has aid convoys in the vicinity of our distribution sites and uses corridors in proximity to them. The Hamas-affiliated Gaza Health Ministry does not call out the UN if their convoys or distribution sites are linked to violent incidents.
